I received salvation about 23 years ago, but for a long time after, there was still something I felt like I was missing.
Everybody around me seemed light years ahead while I was still barely crawling as a baby Christian.
I would pray for more faith. I would expect to feel more peace.
But honestly, all I ever felt was out of place. Behind. Spiritually broke even though I'd already been saved.
Most of this Week I've been addressing this foundationally:
Today we address one more.
Why does the walk you're on feel more like a chase than an adventure?
Most Christians wake up every day feeling spiritually broke, and that's because nobody ever tells them they're already fulfilled.
Imagine somebody wires a hundred million dollars into your bank account and never sends you the notification.
You'd still feel like you had no money.
You'd still make decisions like you needed more.
Not because you were broke.
Because you didn't know you were rich.
God tells us in 2 Peter 1:3 that His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness.
But because of the distractions in the world, and a lot of religious teaching that doesn't actually line up with the gospel, we end up trusting all that more than we trust the Word of God.
Religion gives you a list that says do more. But Jesus will show you a list that there's no more to do because He finished it all.
That's what this Week has been about.
Every single day of this week was the same story wearing different clothes. How to tell the lies from the truth.
You weren't behind. You were uninformed, maybe even misinformed.
And that's not to fault you. It's more to show us how crooked the world has become at replacing grace with effort.
I'm not saying anybody did this on purpose. The pastors who handed it down to you probably didn't know they were doing it either.
The beautiful thing is, now you know.
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ."
Ephesians 1:3 (KJV)
Hath blessed. Same deposit.
Make sense?
So how do we apply these things to our lives?
Step 1: Pray to God like a son, not a beggar. He's already deposited His righteousness and His love into your account, and that's exactly what allows you to overcome all things. Ask boldly. Rest in what He says, not in what you think.
Step 2: Don't say, "God has to give me what I need before I can move." Say, "God has already given me everything in this life that pertains to godliness."
Step 3: Always come back to 2 Peter 1:3 when you feel like you don't have enough. Read it again. Out loud if you have to. Let it remind you that the account is already funded.
.
Father God, I've been living broke with a full account. I've been begging for what You already deposited. Today I stop asking and I start receiving. Thank You that Your divine power has already given me everything that pertains to life and godliness. Thank You that this isn't about my performance. It's about Your Son. Help me trust what You already finished at the cross. Help me wake up to what's already mine in Christ. I bring this whole week to You and I thank You for loving me enough to show me what was always there. In Jesus' precious name. Amen.
